Organic semiconductors continue to draw increasing attention from different disciplines because of the plethora unique and attractive properties. Recent advances in fundamental understanding, coupled with introduction new materials synthetic routes, have enabled development prototypical devices functionalities performance for some is now on par established inorganic technologies. Besides surge number publications topic, such demonstrations are paving way many innovative applications emerging sectors science technology. Keeping above view, Symposium EQ03 entitled “Next Generation Semiconductors: Materials, Characterization Applications” was held during 2022 MRS Spring meeting. This symposium focused recent synthesis, characterization, application organic systems. Of particular interest were molecular design, microstructure, classes materials, including macromolecular semiconductors, dopants, self-assembling surface-modifying molecules, open-shell two-dimensional conjugated networks, non-fullerene acceptors, light-emitting molecules enhanced reverse intersystem crossing, solid-state lasers, thermoelectrics, mixed ion-electron (hole) conductors. The ultimate aim provide a venue researchers backgrounds discuss developments, challenges, opportunities this field.
